Training Updates

Superior Home Care

Our dementia training is underway! Sessions are running from 1/28/26 thru 2/4/26 with 12 of our staff participating in this first round.

We are honored to be working with a team from Penn State’s Gerontology department (Peg Chabala, Dr. Rollin Wright, Kalen Kearcher) to help them understand the unique care environment our staff provide care in – private homes. As much as we are learning about the disease of dementia and the skills needed to care for a person who lives with dementia, the Penn State team is learning from us.

Thank you to our inaugural group of 12 staff who are getting this incredible training and sharing what the home care environment is all about.

This is a great partnership and further ensures our staff will be equipped with the skills needed to excel in the field!

Company News

This year we are looking for meaningful ways to open up communication with our staff in the field and give our caregivers an opportunity to more directly impact important aspects of our operations, which will benefit from their insight.

We are creating 3 voluntary committees that will meet once a quarter virtually, we hope you’ll consider joining one of these committees this year! The committees are:

  • Training & Development Committee – helps us develop our training topics for the year and different ways we can help our staff continually develop and grow
  • Recruitment & Retention Committee – helps us shape our recruitment and retention efforts so we are sure we are doing all we can to attract and keep the most professional caregivers
  • Welcome Committee – to help give every new caregiver we hire a warm, Superior welcome, making sure they know they are supported and part of our bigger caregiving team

If you want to learn more or already know you’d like to join one of these committees – please email Kim at kim@superiorinhome.com .

Client Story

We recently were contacted by one of our VA Care Managers to help a potential client return home from a temporary stay at a skilled nursing facility.

This client lived at home with his wife. While the couple did have some in home support, the wife always felt it was her responsibility to perform all personal care tasks for her husband. The rigors of this level of caregiving had worn her down, so they decided an inpatient respite stay would give her a chance to rest a bit.

After only a few weeks, this client’s wife simply could not handle the difference in care between having her husband home with her, and having him in a facility. To her there just was no comparison, even on her worst day. She wanted to bring her husband home, but could not do that unless she had capable, reliable staff to help her – and this time she would allow staff to actually provide the care her husband needs. This is where Superior stepped in and created the way for him to come home again.

We are working with this couple to transition the client back home, and give them both the comfort and peace of mind only being home can provide.
